Re: S4 library, am i able to add a new device?

Hi Neil thanks for taking the time to reply, looks like i will still continue to use my home made adaptor to read the devices that just does a 18 pin to 21 pin swapover. I sort of gathered it wouldent be possible in the programming, but was worth asking just in case. The 9316 device was widely used ...

S4 library, am i able to add a new device?

Hi Neil I would like to either add a device to the S4 library, or create a custom library eprom for 1 rom that the S4 won't at the moment do. All i want to do is read the contents and do a checksum, no programming capacity for the device is needed. The device is a 9316 masked rom (used in the arcade...

Re: Can S4 program the PIC18F2550 with PIC Module Set adapte

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Am very pleased that a 10 -12 year old device can still program a newer PIC

Are there any online videos showing basic operation of the S4 ?

Best regards

Re: Using low voltage to read Old/Bad Eproms?

Hi Peter From what i know the S4 lowest voltage is 5v as i know it wont do flash chips at 3.3v as the hardware in the S4 just won't do it. as it is a good few years old and back then 5v was the standard, and hence has now been discontinued by Dataman for which i for one am sad about. Maybe they now ...

Using low voltage to read Old/Bad Eproms?

I read somewhere that it may be possible to read data from an old / bad EPROM by lowering the voltage. That some Eproms will read OK at 4 volts and not at 5.

Any body heard of this?

And if so - how to do it using the S4?

Any hints much appreciated!

Best regards,

/Peter

Re: S4 appears to program but eprom wont work in cct

Hi Neil,

Thanks again. I got through most of them ok, but the problem reappeared, so I resoldered the ZIF and the ram sockets.

It worked ok after that, but I only had a couple to do, so time will tell.

Thanks for all your help.

Re: S4 appears to program but eprom wont work in cct

Hi Neil, Thanks for your detailed reply and sorry for my slow response. Scored a virus on the pc!!! :!: Before I got your reply, I had decided that the S4 was faulty so took the cover off to check it out. Gave it a good clean and also reseated the IC in it's socket. When I did a checksum on the IC I...

Something I forgot to mention, was that most times when I reload the library it comes up with ...

DATAMAN S4 RY?
LIB 3.00
128K BYTES RAM

What is the 'RY?' all about?
