PSD311 support?

Postby Guest » 10 Nov 2011 16:39

I realise this is a long shot as it's an obsolete chip and likely no one else would be interested in it, but would it be possible to add support for the PSD3xx family? Specifically the PSD311.

Datasheet is available on your chip search system here:

http://www.dataman.com/Webpages/DeviceD ... 1&p=25&v=2

I have a need to update the firmware of some 10 year old hardware and am considering buying an old programmer that suports the PSD311, however I thought I'd ask the question here just in case it was a relatively simple task for you to add support for the PSD311. A suitable old, used programmer is likely to cost 100-200 euros so I'd consider paying a similar fee if support could be added to my 48Pro+.

I'd also welcome suggestions of a suitable programmer which can handle the PSD311.

Thanks.

Hello Ataribin,

Unfortunately we do not have access to the programming specification for the PSD311 device. We have tried many times to contact WSI for the necessary documentation but to no avail.

We do have the datasheet for the device as you point out, but on page 21:

"Information for programming the device is available directly from WSI. Please contact your
local sales representative."

If we were able to obtain the programming specification then we can proceed with the support.

I am sorry that we could not be of more help on this occasion.

Yes I noticed the actual programming specs were missing from the Datasheet and wondered if that would be an issue.

Thanks for your quick reply anyway, at least I know how to proceed now. I've found the Xeltek Superpro-Z programmer available new for under 150 euros and it offers PSD311 support so I may look into one of those.

Ataribin,

Dataman is primarily focused on providing the best production segment and new chip support available anywhere. There is only so much time that we can commit to chasing the programming information for obsolete parts.

I am sorry that we could could not be of more help on this occasion.

ST bought them, maybe try contacting ST instead?

Hello Bad Ad84,

Thank you for the suggestion!

We have already contacted ST for the information about the WSI part but they were unable to locate the necessary information which would appear to have been misplaced in the move from WSI to the ST premises.
