is there a suitable adapter for the 48 for this device?

Hi charliex,

The D48Pro supports this device and requires the (DIL48/QFP80 ZIF HCS12-2) adaptor for Motorola MC9S12 family (e.g MC9S12DJ128) in QFP80 package. Which is priced at £220

Hi,

Sorry there is no plan to support this chip on the D48UXP.

We recommend that chip should be programmed by Freescale developing tool or ISP.
