For many years now i have had the dataman 48 now i find that it is no longer getting chip upgrades. so im in a quandery .should i upgrade to xp version or not.
why the quandary....
Its the parallel port.
my latest portable doesn't have one.
so question 1 doest the software support usb parallel port dongles or is there a USB or NETWORK/WEB version about to be released.
2nd question is there going to be any LINUX support. my company is in the middle of junking windows. my machine will be the only one with windows on it and then it will be dual boot and only then because i have a couple of engineering programs which we havent got linux versions to cover.

Re: 48 - XP upgrade
Hi Dave,
For now the D48XP is purely a parallel port based unit, we are looking at a USB implementation however there are performance issues with it.
Unfortunately we are not going to be supporting LINUX through our software. There simply is not the demand for it that we can see. You are one of about 4 people that have requested LINUX support over the last 3 years.
Hope this answers your questions.
