Issue when uploading from S4 to PC in BINARY

Postby Guest » 14 Nov 2011 16:14

Hi,

I've got an issue when uploading a file in BINARY from the S4 to the PC. The download from the PC to the S4 in BINARY is ok but not the upload. When I register the file into the PC the checksum is not good compare to the one on my RAM. A few parts are missing.
I tried with another S4 and it's the same... In INTEL/ASCII mode... it is ok but not in BINARY...
Any idee?

I use the last Windows soft in 2.16.

I guess my issue is similar than this previous post :

Hi frenchman,

It sounds as though you are not setting the end address of the binary file correctly. You must specify the start and end address of binary files when transferring them to and from the S4. To work out the end address of a binary file you can convert its exact length in bytes to a HEX value and decrease it by 1.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help Neil!

Anyway it's still not working...
My file is 32768 bytes in length so 8000 in HEX and 7FFFF in bin.
I'm missing parts in the middle of the file, neither at the beginning nor at the end.
The download is ok but not the upload.
Is it possible to send you the file to check where is my issue?

I tested with 2 different files

Length of both : 32768 octets / 7FFF in bin

For both I ask for SEND BINARY 00000,07FFFF

For the first I received 32610bytes / Binary length 7F62
For the second 32607 bytes / Binary length 7F5F (Adress area 00000,07F5E)

Any idea? I tried different baud rate, but it didn't change anything.

Which version of the S4 driver are you using on the PC? If its the blue background screen then it is an old version and probably the cause of the problems.

You can send the file to [email protected] and I will take a look at it.

e-mail sent with the file!

It seems that the values 13 (in hex format) from my file are missing when I upload…
I use S4 driver V 2.16 : the last available on your website.

Thanks again for your help!

Frenchman,

It looks like there is a missing 0x13 character (XON/XOFF, decimal code=19).
Try switching off XON/XOFF in COM port setting.
This can be done either in S4Windriver or in Windows COM setting.
That should help.

Regards,

Neil
