Device 23c1000

Postby JonT » 03 Dec 2011 11:50

I know its a long shot but is there any chance of getting a 23c1000 maskrom added to the device list?
I very frequently have to verify these are still working and at present I am resorting to reading them as 27c512 devices, toggling the highest address line and re-reading them.
The device is very similar to the 27c301 device but obviously doesnt have the programming pins.

No problem if not, im probably the only person who wants this but it would save me heaps of hassle.

Thanks
Jon

Hello JonT,

Is 23c1000 the complete partname? Who is the manufacturer? Do you have a datasheet for this part? What is the package type?

Once we have this information we can carry out an preliminary analysis of the device requirements... .

hi,
The 23c1000 was a maskrom made by NEC, it seems to be very common in some of the older arcade PCB's
Its complete name taken from the ROM is D23C1000AC and is a DIP package
The pinout is as follows:

A15.|1..........28|.VCC
A12.|2..........27|.A14
A7.|3...........26|.A13
A6.|4...........25|.A8
A5.|5...........24|.A9
A4.|6...........23|.A11
A3.|7...........22|.A16
A2.|8...........21|.A10
A1.|9...........20|./CE
A0.|10..........19|.D7
D0.|11..........18|.D6
D1.|12..........17|.D5
D2.|13..........16|.D4
GND.|14........15|.D3

As you can see its pin compatible with a 27c301 but with an the extra /OE and programming lines removed.

Hope you can help.

Thanks
Jon

Hello JonT,

Ok, we have completed an initial analysis of the device requirements and we are able to add support (in this case read + verify operations) for the uPD23C1000A device. The Datasheet for the uPD23C1000A is available.

A sample chip is required for final testing of the algorithm. Are you able to provide this?

I know for sure I've got one on my working boards, are you able to return it? I'll also take a look on some scrap ones for any then I wouldn't need it returned.
