I was beginning to think I had a hardware problem, but I decided to try the earlier version of the software first. Since that works, I'm sure there's no problem with my parallel port. I addressed the admin rights issue early in this process.

We've had a few problems here at working using our Dataman-48LV under WindowsXP reliably (we get random program/verify failures from time to time).
Can you please confirm which, if any, is the correct version of software to install (none of the downloads for this model seem to site WXP as a useable platform)? Also any recommended parallel port settings, please?

The D48LV is not supported under Windows XP. The latest version of the LV software is 4.67.
If you wish to use the progrrammer under Windows XP then you can upgrade it to the D48UXP which also has a USB port and full XP support.
