Reading Flash Memories

Hi all, appreciate any help on this...

I commonly received damage USB pendrives and that is why we purchase a Dataman 48Pro Interface.

When I read the device into the buffer I get inconsistent data (Not similar to a Master Boot Record with 512 bytes p/sector).

Why? I guess because I am reading through a 32-bit system (Windows XP) and this memories have 8-bit data.

I have tried almost every option available in the software (Skip Invalid Blocks, Skip Spare Area, etc) and have not found the correctly way of reading this thing.

I am using Dataman 48Pro Software version 2.30 and the device is listed under the support media.

Appreciate any help you may have.

Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

Those memory cards have a micro controller that creates a flashmemory file system. In order to read the data, you will have to know how the data is stored in the flash. That is why you are not seeing the data you expect.
