Latest PG4UW Software with pop-up "Hint" Window

Postby Guest » 10 Nov 2011 10:37

Hi All,

I've just installed the latest PG4UW software (v2.76/01.2011) and it has now has a "hint" window that pops up when I run the program. Anyone know how to stop this window appearing as I don't seem to be able to find an option to turn it off.

Cheers,
Andy

Hello Andy,

At present there is no option to disable the popup "Hints".

We are currently reviewing this and I will post the decision here.

Hello Andy,

Regarding the pop-up "Hints" box which appears after selecting a new device, it has been discussed and decided by our team that this is, and will remain mandatory.

It was put in place with the intent to minimize questions from customers that are already answered in the "Device info" window.

This pop-up window window can be easily cancelled using the ESC key.

I work with the programmer daily and I "select" many tens of different devices and I don't feel this window is a hindrance to me - the ESC key is easy to find and easy to press.

We do not plan on modifying our software to remove or allow the option to remove these hints.

You dont even need to close it or press ESC.

If you click anywhere in the window around the popup it will close itself. So clicking load for your data will close it.

I was annoyed by it originally, but then I discovered if you just ignore it, it vanishes on its own anyway during normal use.
