We have a problem programming C9A chips, it takes between 1 and 8 attempts with the PROG button before a valid chip is recognised ("Device contact error, an invalid, damaged secured!").
The PC has Win95, Ver 4.4 D48 software. With the IC left in the socket the chip is eventually recognised, this has occurred on 100+ C9As. The C8A version programs fine. Most other chips program fine.
The PIC16C54-XT/P also has a problem. Programming occurs, but a verify error (at 5V) always occurs at the end of the cycle. Using Verify (at 5V) afterwards separately passes! (50+ chips)
Is the programmer likely to be faulty or is it a software/firmware issue?
