In-circuit programming

Has anyone had any experience programming with the D48 using an ICT fixture? There are a lot of unknowns here and probably doubt it would be possible. But I thought I would ask. We are using an Atmel AM29LV160DB SMD flash part, and are needing to update the program. The only option thus far (aside from purchasing a new machine that can program in-circuit) is to re-work the boards. Thanks.

Hi,

I am afraid that we do not support ISP programming on this chip the Atmel AM29LV160DB as it requires all 48 pins to be connected to the chip. We do support the chip under the 48 pin ZIF socket of the Dataman 48 (with adaptor) but not for in-circuit programming.

How can I tell if Dataman 48xp uses serial or parallel programming method for PIC chips?

Old PICs like PIC16C54/55/56/57 use parallel method only.
Newer ones, PIC16 and PIC18 family uses serial method only.
I am not sure about PIC17 but I think it is parallel method only.
