XP-48 with version 5.80 driver w/ SP2 driver issue

I have noticed that while I have the Dataman XP48 software installed, I am unable to use any application that uses the serial port. For example, if I try to connect to com1 using Hyperterminal, I get an error stating that the requested telephony device is already in use.
How can I get around uninstalling the XP48 software everytime I want to use a serial port.

Hi,

The D48XP uses the parallel port for communication so it should have nothing to do with the serial ports. Have you actually removed the D48XP software and verified that the serial ports then become available?

Hello,
I did uninstall the XP48 software and regain use of my serial ports. I realize that the serial port is seperate from the parallel port, but as long as XP48 is on my system, Hyperterminal, or any other serial port application/utility is unable to initialize or use the port due to the port being "in use".

The PC setup I am running the XP48 on is as follows:
A Dell Dimension 3000 2.8GHz with 512 MB RAM, running Windows XP Professional. I only have a schematic entry program, a USB oscilloscope program, and the XP48 running on this PC as it is new and still bare bones.

I cannot give you any advise.
I don't know if the problem is from the PC or the Serial port driver or simply the driver name may be the same on Dataman-48XP and other application driver?

We have had no reports even similar to this before.

The simple way is to install the Dataman-48XP software on a dedicated PC if such a problem can not easily be identified and solved.
