Advice on NEC 27c512a

Hello,
I need help. I'm am a new user. I have a S4 w/512K using lib. 2.45.
I have a 2- NEC 27c512a chips.
I have 2 motorola-S format files one even and one odd. (win3.11 s4driver ver1.0)
These files have an offset of 20000 in them and each time I down load the file from the pc to the s4 two thing seem to happen.
"S22402000001d2fff......"
last only has 2 byte....your book says usually 3.
"s8030000fc"
a. The software says its finished, I click on "ok" but the s4 does not responde until I press the enter key on the keypad.

>recieve motorola

b. When I "edit memorory" it all "ff"'s.
Check sum.
"Examine file" gives me "A2833" my software says "B12093"
