Checksum

Hi, I have only just started to use our dataman S4 at work and I was wondering why when I checksum a 29C040 eprom and checksum the ram (after i have loaded it to it)why the sums are different. Also how much of the ram does the library use up? (version 2.87)what addresses are left for "user RAM" I
think this could be why the check sums are different because I am also checking the library as well as my eprom loaded into the user area of the ram?! could anyone advise me about this?

Hi Dave,
Ok first the library, the library is loaded into a seperate part of the S4 from the user RAM so all the URAM is avaliable to the user.(be it 128k or 512k) As for the difference in checksum, please ensure that you note the address range on LOAD and SUM this same range from the S4 RAM. (grey SUM key)

programming a 32KB EPROM, creates a checksum.
but when i read the eprom & edit the buffer locations from 0000-7ff0 aredisplayed
i want to confirm that should i read the locations from 0000-7fff to confirm the checksum
or locations from 0000-7ff0

Get "URAM Fault 11111100" on the S4 during power up. Any idea what the cause could be?

Hi Arash,
It looks like the user RAM has developed a fault. A replacement 4Mbit static RAM chip @ £45 should remedy this problem.
