I tried to use AutoID on a TMS2764 (yes I know - old stuff).
I get a message saying:
"Searching for 28 pin device (man=35h, dev=90h)..."
And them get a popup with the title "AutoSelect EPROM" with both the Vendor and Device list boxes unpopulated!
The Help on the dialog does nothing
Is this to be expected? I hope not. I'm Using the version 8.30 of the software on Win XP SP 3
Thanks
Dave

Re: 48xp and AutoID of TMS2764
Hello perdrix,
The AutoID feature of that programmer applies a high voltage to the appropriate pins on the socket. Do not insert a device into the socket that isn't an EPROM or FLASH based device as it may be damaged.
The AutoID service is applicable only for devices in DIL packages or any other non-DIL package using a signal-to-signal wired programming adapter.
The control program only supports EPROM's and FLASH devices with 28 and 32 pins in standard pinout.
We do not recommend using the AutoID function for:
1) 2764 and 27128 EPROM memories. Most of them don't have an ID.
2) Flash memories with non-standard pinout (e.g. Firmware Hub Flash)
3) Flash memories, which don't accept a Vid voltage at the A9 pin
4) low voltage EPROM and Flash memories
We always recommend using the information from the top of chip and selecting the corresponding selection in the software. We bare no responsibility for the damage of the chip during this operation.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Best regards,

Hello perdrix,
Are you sure that you have a TMD2764 device and that it is GOOD?
There is obviously something wrong but the TMS2764 has been supported for many years without any complaints. You can try disabling the "Device ID Check" in the Device Operations Option menu.
Please let me know of this helps. It not then please send a sample device to Dataman for analysis in our lab.
