Hello paroooooos,

If you really do have the original Dataman-48 and not the Dataman-48LV then there is no longer any possibility of upgrading it to the latest Dataman-48UXP model. The Dataman-48UXP model itself was discontinued in December 2023, however, we are still supporting it through the software with bug fixes and new chip support.

We can offer a trade-in option which would give you a small discount off one of our current programmer models. I would recommend the Dataman-48Pro2 which is out best selling and most capable programmer. It supports over 135,800 chips and counting.

Here is a little bit about the 48Pro2 programmer:

I believe the Dataman 48Pro2 to be the best in its class on the market worldwide at the moment. The Dataman 48Pro2 offers super-fast programming speeds and includes advanced features such as ISP capability, USB 2.0 interface and comprehensive software compatible with Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and 11. The Dataman 48Pro2 supports over 135,800 devices which is updated every 3 - 4 weeks with each update adding 200 - 300 new chips. Support can be added for missing devices quickly and typically free of charge.

You can download and run the control software for the 48Pro2 programmer. It will run unrestricted in DEMO mode allowing you get a feel for the interface, select your chip, and load your programming data into the buffer.

The programmer comes as standard with our 3-year parts and labour warranty, free life-time technical support and software updates. Further information can be found on our website.

The 48Pro2 is available from stock ready for dispatch upon receipt of your order.

If you have any further questions or would like to proceed with the trade-in option then please email [email protected] mentioning the trade-in offer and we will get bcak to you with our quotation.

Unfortunately, I can't take advantage for two reasons.
- I use this programmer for very old chips, sometimes even for PROMs.
- The cost exceeds my budget, which is maybe 100-150$ :)

I am just a hobbyist repairing retro equipment sometimes.

But thank you for your quick reply.
Greetings
