S6 and Windows 11

I just purchased the S6. I cannot get my machine, running Windows 11, to recognize the "Y USB cable". When I plug in the S6 I get two blinks from the power LED. When I start the program, it states the programmer is not detected.

The CD that came with the programmer does not run so that's no help. I downloaded version 15.2.4.0 from the website.

Add to that it is difficult to reserve 2 USB ports on new laptop!

Hello johntmitchell,

The Y-type USB cable is only necessary on older PC/laptops without USB 3.0 standard ports. If you have USB 3.0 ports on your system then you only need to connect the thicker of the two cables which carries power and data.

It sounds like the USB driver did not install correctly, please follow these steps to manually install the USB drivers for the S6 programmer:

1) Keep driver signing on without turning it off.
2) Connect S6 to the PC. Windows Device manager will recognize it as "libusb-win32 devices" or "Unknown device" or similar.
3) Install latest software + database.
4) uninstall the "libusb-win32 devices" or "Unknown device" from Device Manager (right click > uninstall device).
5) Unplug S6 and re-connect it to USB.
6) It will then be recognized as "USB Serial Device" under "Port" in Device manager.
7) (right click) Update driver > Browse computer for driver > choose subfolder "usbdrv" in the folder "Dataman Programmers" > OK
8) The correct driver is then installed and the S6 should work as expected.

Please let me know if the situation does not improve.
