The programmer is unable to read or check the blank device (two different devices). I am getting the "Device overcurrent error".
I get the same error when I tried to program.

Please, I desperately need help. I would be very glad, if someone could assist me in resolving this issue.

Which Dataman programmer model do you have? Which package is your chip in and which adaptor socket do you have?

Usually a device overcurrent error indicates a short to ground, which would indicate an internally damaged or destroyed chip.

Dpending on the programmer model that you have it is possible to run a selftest on the programmer to check the programmers internal hardware and rule this out as the cause of this situation.

Programmer model: Dataman-48PRO2
Chip package: SOIC8
Adaptor Socket: 48 pins to fit in zif socket and a 16 in (top) socket

I do not know how to run self-test. Can you please advise how to do that.

Please confirm that you have one of the two adaptor sockets listed above. Any other type of adaptor socket will not work and may be the reason for this device overcurrent situation.

The selftest of the programmer can be performed by selecting "Selftest..." from the programmer menu using the supplied 48pin diagnostic pod and following the instructions. Please let me know the result.

I used the programing setup you suggested, but the overcurrent error is still not resolved. I tested additional five ICs (devices), the same error persisted in them.

I am also using the correct Dataman-48Pro2 adapter/module: DIL8W/SOIC8 ZIF 200mil SFlash-1a

Regarding performing self-test, I cannot carry it out as I can no longer find the 48pin diagnostic pod.

We really need to know the results of the selftest procedure to rule out the programmer hardware as a potential cause.

Replacements diagnostic PODs can be purchased through our website: 48-Pin Diagnostic POD

Once received, please run the Selftest procedure (Programmer > Selftest…) with and without the diagnostic POD when instructed. After this has completed, please generate a problem report (Help > Create problem report) and email [email protected] the resulting ZIP file for analysis.
