Dataman 48XP - Does not work with Windows NT or 2000?

I can't get the Dataman software for Datman 48XP to work with Windows NT or 2000. It just goes into demo mode. I am using the 5.20 version of software. I have tried it on 4 machines and it did not work on any of them, it does work on XP. This is not much use as we use only NT/2000!

Is everyone else having the same problem?

Hi,

Please download the software from our website as it has been patched to overcome this problem.

Also please ensure that your PC's parallel port is set to EPP mode in the BIOS.

I am using the patched version from the Dataman website, it does not fix the problem (I have compared the files, they are the same, also I did try it!).

I can't set my LPT port to EPP on my Dell Inspiron 8000, I have tried both EPP or Bi-Directional.

As I said I have already tried the same software on 4 PC's with Windows NT / 2000 and still the same problem of not detecting the Dataman 48XP.

I have been sent a new version of the software (The Patched version!), because it has not been uploaded to the website!!

But this does not work under Windows 2000 either!

Has anyone got the software for the Dataman 48XP to work under Windows NT or 2000 ?

I am getting just a bit fed up with it now!

Julian,

Providing you have the PC's parallel port set to EPP and you have the latest software install on your machine there is no reason why the programmer shouldn't work.
At Dataman we use the D48-XP under Windows 2000 without any problems at all.

Please check you system setup.

Dear all,

The latest revision of the software 5.30 for the Dataman 48XP corrects the ECP/EPP parallel port commincation issues. Please download and install software version 5.30 (or later) this should correct any problems.

The XP parallel port saga continues: I have just spent an afternoon trying to get the latest published release, V5.60, working on an XP system. I finally flushed it and installed V5.50 (shipped w/programmer) which then worked fine from the first try. BTW V5.60 works fine on a W2K system, but not on XP.

Please make sure that you remove any current Dataman software from the PC before you install the latest revision.
Sometimes powering off the PC and programmer, then powering up the programmer then the PC allows the software to see it.
Also double check that you have the parallel port set to EPP or ECP in the BIOS.

Yep, I did all that before giving up on it. Am I the only one to have this problem?

We have had about three other users with this problem. It seems to be a problem with the parallel port on the PC. They simply moved to another machine and had no further problems.

Also, the software requires you to be logged on with admin rights. Both during install and running of the software.
