Trying to copy 29C040 on S4

Postby Guest » 11 Nov 2011 12:39

Hi, I wonder if you can help me I am trying to make a copy of a 29C040 winbond/amtel flash chip. I have a S4 with 128k RAM and the latest library is loaded.

This flash chip is 4 meg and I cant work out how I would copy it even if I had 512k of RAM in my S4

I have loaded the data from the 29C040 to my computer, but the problem comes when I try to burn the data into the new chip as it only seams to want to burn data from the 128k RAM in the S4

Any help with this matter would be appreciated

Thanks.

Hi,

You will need a 512K RAM upgrade for your S4 available from Dataman at the price of £39. The figure 512K refers to BYTES which is actually equal to 4 MBITS which is the same size as the chip. Once this upgrade has been performed then you will be to copy the entire contents of the 29C040 chip into the S4's RAM and then upload this to your PC.

Hope this helps,

Neil

Hi Neil,

Thank you for that information, I understand it now! Just gotta try and get some money out of the company for the memory upgrade then my S4 will be very useful!

Thanks again for your help with this!
