Charging & Battery life

Postby Guest » 14 Nov 2011 11:37

Hi,
what voltage should I expect from my battery (INFO screen)?

What are the recommended values for [mine shown]:
Max Batt Temp [AA]
Min Batt Temp [64]
Charge Time [07]
Discharge Time [11]
Deep Discharge [40]
Norm Discharge [C0]
in the FUNC SETUP menu?

Hi,
The voltage you should be getting from your battery when fully charged should be about 9.2V however this will soon drop when the unit is used. You will be able to use the S4 until the battery voltage reaches about 8.5V.
As for the other values they are all the defaults apart from the min battery temp which is 54 not 64 . We have never had any need to change these values.

Hope this helps.

Stephen....

Yes, there should be no problem in using the higher capacity cells. You may have to go through the charging procedure twice to get a full charge into the cells initially.

Hope this helps.

My S4 does not load the battery pack any more. battery pack is tested and ok, supply is ok, bridge rectifier is ok, too.
Can you give information about the loading circuitry, that I will be able to repair?
Thank you, Axel Grothoff

Axel...

It sounds as though the thyristor part number C106D located in the lower left hand corner of the board, near the toroid has failed. Here is a link to the datasheet http://onsemi.com.cn/pub/Collateral/Dat ... 06rev1.pdf
It may vary slightly for the component on your S4 but it is the correct part.

Hope this helps
